Catalina Estrada’s popular peacock illustration can now be seen on a unique paper lantern from BlueQ, the designers and manufacturers of decorative objects, eclectic bath products, miniature books and other artful curiosities.
Catalina Estrada’s textile prints for Anunciaçao‘s Summer 2012 collection marks her tenth collaboration with the Brazilian fashion brand. This season, Catalina draws inspiration from the sea with swirling patterns in rich blues and plenty of underwater creatures, including jellyfish, seahorses and starfish.
Catalina Estrada’s artwork was licensed for two recenlty released puzzles from Andrews + Blaine.
Winter Heart features two hummingbirds over a vibrant red heart, while Dragonfly Courtship shows two dragonlfies surrounded by lush florals. Both designs are classic Catalina with ornate linework and bold graphics in a stunning display of colorful symmetry.
Both 1000-piece puzzles measure 19 x 27 inches and come packed in it’s own keepsake drawer box. They are intended for ages 13 and up and are available through Barnes & Noble.
Catalina Estrada’s artwork is featured on the cover of two recent releases in the Pocket Posh series of books from publishers Andrews McMeel. The small books measure just 4 x 6 inches and are designed to fit easily into your pocket or bag. Subject matter ranges from brain teasers and word games to tips for knitters and guides to dining out.
Pocket Posh books have become known for their unique, design-driven covers and Tips for Travelers and Sudoku 10 are no exception with Catalina’s big, bold flowers and intricate repeats.
Catalina Estrada illustrated a series of posters for Incredible India, a program run by the Government of India’s Ministry of Tourism. The posters feature Indian cultural symbols such as the Bengal tiger, the Taj Mahal, and the Kathakali dancer.
Regarding her latest project with Laboratorio del Espiritu, Catalina Estrada writes, “I just couldn’t possibly feel happier and more proud to see one of my favorites projects ever finally starting to come out. It’s a dream come true and I hope you like it as much as I do.”
Laboratorio del Espiritu is an NGO that creates cultural and learning opportunities for children in rural Colombia. Catalina decided to contribute to the cause after visiting the organization in person. She was deeply touched by what she saw: “Some of the kids attending the Library live in really difficult conditions and have very sad stories in many aspects, and when I read their notebooks I was blown away by the power and strength of their words, their ability to express their feelings in such a transparent way, their connection with nature was mesmerizing and I was absolutely inspired from what I read.”
Catalina has designed several scarves based on the poetry written by the Colombian children. The scarves are available at her online store, and 100% of the profit will go to benefit Laboratorio del Espiritu.

Catalina Estrada will participate in an auction at Medellin, Colombia’s Modern Art Museum. All proceeds will benefit the museum’s educational and cultural programs. The auction takes place November 10, 2011 at 7 PM.

Catalina Estrada was commissioned to create artwork for renowned author Paulo Coelho’s recently released Moments. The 2012 daily planner combines Catalina’s beautiful and uplifting artwork with inspirational quotes from some of the author’s most celebrated books and is sure to be a source of daily inspiration all year round.
This is Catalina’s fifth collaboration with Coelho, having illustrated for his 2009, 2010 and 2011 planners, as well as for Love, a book of selected quotations. The collection is produced by Barcelona-based literary agency, Sant Jordi Asociados and has been marketed in 19 countries with more than 2.5 million copies sold to date.
