Estrada for Feria de Abril

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

Catalina Estrada illustrated for the Feria de Abril de Catalunya 2008. The festival consists of two main areas. One is a huge fair with a ferris wheel, cotton candy and shotting galleries and the other is made up of around 80 “casetas” (or “little houses”) that are basically decorated marquee tents set up on the fairground.

The casetas open around 9:00 in the evening and stay open until 6:00 or 7:00 the next morning. Inside you will find partying, singing and much dancing of “Sevillana,” the traditional dance of Andalucia. The festival runs from Friday, April 25th to Sunday, May 4th, 2008. Catalina’s illustrations can be seen on posters, vinyl banners and on hand fans, t-shirts and aprons.

Estrada and Anunciacao

Friday, March 7th, 2008

While Catalina Estrada was recently in Paris she paid a visit to the Hotel Crillon at Place de la Concorde to view the Anunciacao Spring/Summer 2008 showroom. The beautiful summery fashions feature textile patterns made solely of Catalina’s illustrations and mark the third collection Catalina has collaborated on with the Brazilian fashion label. Anunciacao is designed by Maria Elvira Crosara and while in Paris, Catalina had the opportunity to meet with Ana Christina da Rocha Lima, Maria Elvira’s partner and manager. The line was shown in Paris before being shipped to Japan where it will also be shown.
