Graham Roumieu and Emiliano Ponzi each had their work selected to appear in the American Illustration 30 annual. From more than 7,000 pieces submitted by over 1,100 entrants, the jury selected just 316 images to appear in the book and represent the best illustrations from 2010. The annual will be printed in full-color and distributed worldwide in hardcover immediately after The Party on November 10th, 2011 – the annual book launch event that brings the creative community together to celebrate the winners.

Emiliano Ponzi’s work for The Boston Globe has won two awards from the Society for News Design. His piece for When Clutter Turns to Crisis won an Award of Excellence in the Single Lead Illustration category, while a portfolio of essay illustrations that included one of his pieces also won an award for Art Direction. Nate Williams’ recent illustration for One Good Reason won Gold in the Illustration category at the American Advertising Foundation’s Utah Addy Awards.

One Good Reason is part of Project:1200, Utah’s grassroots tobacco prevention movement. The three-color design is available on a 100% cotton crew neck t-shirt or as a hand-stamped and numbered print on French Paper in Steel Blue. Both items are offered at-cost in an effort to promote cutting-edge artists and musicians while encouraging a smoke-free lifestyle.

Nate Williams’ logo for the Reading Rocket bookmobile was one of ten winners in the HOW 2010 Logo Design Awards.  The bookmobile is operated by the Denver Public Library, bringing books and a renewed excitement about reading to under-served schools. This year over 1600 pieces were entered with selected entries being exhibited on the SILA website and at an exhibition at Alhambra’s Gallery Nucleus later this month. Red Nose Studio received two Gold Awards in the Advertising and Self-Promotional categories, while Emiliano received a Silver Award in the Editorial category. Congratulations go out to all!

Society of Illustrators is the premier showcase for illustrators and animators, featuring over 400 pieces of the most outstanding works created throughout the year. Red Nose Studio and Angie’s List recently won three American Graphic Design Awards for their February, August and October covers. Writer Ingrid Cummings’ Arts & Entertainment feature on Red Nose Studio also won an award for layout.

The American Graphic Design Awards is the four decade old flagship competition for Graphic Design USA and is open to everyone in the graphic arts community. It honors outstanding new work in 23 categories from print and packaging to internet and interactive design.

Emiliano Ponzi’s cover and opening illustration for Middlebury magazine’s Spring 2010 issue received two Awards of Excellence from the University and College Designers Association. The magazine won five awards in total. Congratulations go out to Emiliano and everyone at Middlebury magazine!

Red Nose Studio’s labels for Blasted Church won a Gold medal for label design at the 2010 San Francisco International Wine Competition. The competition recognizes excellence in label design in the wine industry, judging designs based on their artistic merit and brand-enhancing communicative qualities.

The labels tell the story of the old wooden church that inspired the wineries name. In 1929, a small crew headed to a deserted mining town in British Columbia, Canada with the goal of dismantling an old wooden church and bringing it back to their home in Okanagan Falls. The plan called for a controlled blast of four dynamite sticks inside the church in order to “loosen the nails”. Save for losing the steeple, the plan succeeded. Now, the 108 year old wooden church stands proudly in it’s second home of Okanagan Falls, where Blasted Church wines are made.
