Magnet Artists for Communication Arts 53

Red Nose Studio and Emiliano Ponzi were chosen as winners in the 53rd annual Communication Arts illustration competition. Red Nose Studio’s introductory short for AIGA Design Ranch and Emiliano’s advertisement for Amnesty International were both featured in the animation section.

Red Nose Studio’s illustration for PlanSponsor will appear in the editorial section, while Emiliano’s projects for EMI music and Quiet, Please! will appear in the Advertising section.

Magnet Artists for American Illustration 31

Emiliano Ponzi, Graham Roumieu, Nate Williams, Catell Ronca, and Gordon Wiebe have been chosen as winners in this year’s American Illustration competition.  The selected works range from humorous editorial pieces to personal work and product packaging.  This year, 439 images were chosen from 8,000 illustrations submitted by over 1,200 illustrators, magazines, agencies, publishers and schools.  The distinguished jury included Jen Bekman, 20×20; Steven Charny, Rolling Stone; Mia Song, Men’s Health; John Gall, Random House; Aviva Michaelov, The New York Times; Veronica Reo, Young & Rubicam; and Paul Sahre, O.O.P.S.

Williams in CA Typography 2012

Nate Williams’s “Habla Espanol” was chosen to appear in the 2012 Communication Arts Typography Annual. Commissioned by Louis Fishauf of Fishauf Design for Global Brief magazine, the piece uses handlettering to communicate the growing importance of the Spanish language in Latin America.

Grosch + Zehno in Print’s Regional Design Annual

Eleanor Grosch’s Gulf-inspired luggage tags for full-service marketing firm, Zehno, were recently featured in Print’s 2011 Regional Design Annual. The tags were part of a holiday promotion for Zehno’s clients and friends with a donation to the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana being made in honor of all recipients. The luggage tags can be seen in the December 2011 issue of Print magazine. Congratulations go out to Eleanor and everyone at Zehno!


Magnet Artists for HOW International Design Awards

Red Nose Studio and Nate Williams have been announced as winners in the 2012 HOW International Design Awards. Red Nose Studio’s series for Orange Coast Magazine, “The Man Guide” was selected, along with this “Tree Topping” and “Chimney Sweep” covers for Angie’s List Magazine.  Nate Williams’ cover and series for Michigan State University was selected, along with his Tom Sawyer book series and his Hollywood-themed mural for Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.

Magnet Artists for Society of Illustrators 54

Magnet Reps is proud to announce that Emiliano Ponzi, Catell Ronca, Red Nose Studio and Nate Williams each had work chosen to appear in the Society of Illustrators 54th annual and exhibition.

Society of Illustrators is the premier showcase for illustrators and animators, featuring over 400 pieces of the most outstanding works created throughout the year. Open to artists worldwide, thousands of entries were considered by a a jury of professionals, which include renowned illustrators, art directors and designers.

Ponzi Wins Two Society of Illustrators Gold Medals

We are proud to announce that Society of Illustrators New York awarded two gold medals to Emiliano Ponzi in the institutional and moving images categories.  The first piece, titled Evil Apple Core, was commissioned by EMI Music for Valerio Millefoglie’s album I miel migliori amici immaginari.  The second piece, which competed in Society of Illustrators’ first moving images competition, was completed for Amnesty International.  See the full length video here: Voices for Freedom. Pentawards Gold for Red Nose Studio + Blasted Church Vineyards

Red Nose Studio’s wine labels for Canadian wine company Blasted Church Vineyards have won a gold medal in the Pentawards Worldwide Packaging Design Competition’s ‘beverage’ category.  Congratulations to Chris and everyone at Blasted Church Vineyards!

Williams’ New Look for Bone Daddy’s House of Smoke

Nate Williams’ bold illustrations provide the backdrop for a new branding effort for Bone Daddy’s House of Smoke. His distinct hand-lettering and textured folk art styling combine with wild characters and offbeat animals, and truly celebrate the fun, lively atmosphere that the Texan chain of smokehouses is known for.

His illustrations can be seen throughout the restaurant’s menu and website and on other collateral and promotional items. The brand campaign was so successful that it was featured on the Communication Arts and For Print Only websites and recognized by various institutions, winning a Judge’s Medal at the Art Director’s Club of Houston’s 55th Annual Show and a Bronze Medal at the Dallas Society of Visual Communications 2011 Show. Ponzi Cover Wins EXCEL Award

CURRENTS Magazine, a publication by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, won a Gold for General Excellence in the annual EXCEL Awards, which is judged by Association Media and Publishing.  The award honors magazines, newsletters, scholarly journals, electronic publications and websites with exceptional editorial and design content.  Emiliano Ponzi’s September cover was one of three CURRENTS issues that the judges complimented for “engaging illustrations.”
