Shawn Barber in Art Basel Miami Beach

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

Shawn Barber’s work will be exhibited alongside a number of other names you’ll recognize in the We’ll Make A Lover Of You Exhibition curated by Francesco LoCastro and presented at Art Basel Miami Beach 2006. The exhibition explores the avant-garde urban contemporary and pop surrealism characteristic of the Lowbrow movement. Forty internationally renowned artists will show their paintings, installations and sculptures at the ACSF Gallery from November 25, 2006 to January 21, 2007.

R. Grimes and Francesco LoCastro are collaborating to create a large-scale mural as the backdrop for the show. A deviation from the white walls traditionally seen in galleries, this colored canvas will connect the hanging pieces, the installations and the physical space. ArtCenter Gallery will be transformed into a venue to be admired as a whole in addition to the individual works within.

  • Exhibiting artists include Van Arno, Anthony Ausgang, Gary Baseman, Shawn Barber, Tim Biskup, Andrew Brandou, Ray Caesar, Colin Christian, Sas Christian, Richard Coleman, Dave Cooper, Curve, Dalek, Mike Davis, Cardiac Design, Ron English, Shepard Fairey, Doze Green, R. Red Nose Studio is currently showing a number of sculptures in the Figuratively Speaking show which opened at the ArtWorks Gallery in Cincinnati, OH earlier this month. Starting December 9th, the ArtWorks Gallery will hold its annual holiday sale, Stocking Stuff, as well as a reception for Figuratively Speaking. This one-day-only-sale and reception will be from noon until 5:00 pm.

In addition to Red Nose Studio’s work, the exhibition includes work by: Emily Caito, Jen Edwards, Michael Everett, Nina Gaby, Cody Goodin, Rhonda Gushee, Jenny Harada, Pam Kravetz, Ruth Marks, Elizabeth Marten, Gloria McConnaghy, Greg Penner, Amy Rich, Micha Robertson, Mark Shafer, Katie Swartz, Jenny Ustick, Cathy Wise, and ArtWorks Summer Apprentices.
