Hem at Corey Helford Gallery

Hem at Receiver Gallery

Andrew Hem and Toronto-based artist Shawn Kuruneru both exhibited in their own two-man show at Receiver Gallery in San Francisco, CA. The show, Rapture Vs. Rupture, explored the collision between man and nature. It opened on Saturday, July 14th and ran to Saturday, August 11th, 2007.

Hem at Compound Gallery

Andrew Hem and Jason Shawn Alexander were featured in a two-man show at Compound Gallery in Portland, OR. The show was called Fracture and opened on Thursday, July 5th and ran to Tuesday, July 31st, 2007.

Hem at Suite 100 Gallery

Andrew Hem exhibited in Suite 100 Gallery’s group show Happily Ever After? The show featured familiar fairytales retold by 15 of the most whimsical and illustrative artists from across the United States, Europe and Japan, including Heiko Mueller, Bwana Spoons, Ferris Plock and Leanne Biank. The show opened on Friday, May 11th and ran to Friday, June 1st, 2007.

Hem at the F.U.E.L. Collection

Andrew Hem exhibited in the F.U.E.L. Collection’s Across the Sea exhibition where 40 young illustrators were asked to illustrate the phrase “across the sea”- interpreting those words however they chose and contributing both the sketch and the final piece. The work in the show ranged from traditional to digital giving a good example of the illustration industry today. The show opened on Saturday, March 24th and ran until Friday, April 6th, 2007.

Hem at Black Maria Gallery

Andrew Hem exhibited in Black Maria’s group show 11th Commandment. Other artists featured in the show included Leanne Blank, Matt Burlingame, Karen Davison and Andy Kehoe, among others. The show opened on on Saturday, January 13th and ran until Sunday, February 11th, 2007.

Andrew Hem exhibited work at various galleries across the United States making 2006 a very busy year. He showed work in the Society of Illustrators 49th exhibition at the Museum of Illustration in New York City, NY and at Billy Shire Fine Arts in Culver City, CA. He also exhibited work at Arena 1 Gallery (Santa Monica, CA),  Svenksa Mobler Gallery (Chicago, IL), Thinkspace Gallery (Los Angeles, CA), Corey Helford Gallery (Culver City, CA) and at Compound Gallery (Portland, OR).

Gordon Wiebe in the PEP Show, New York

Gordon Wiebe is showing work in PEP gallery’s newest illustration show Downright, curated by Jashar Awan. In anticipation of the December release of Taschen’s Illustration Now 2, in which Awan is featured, Jashar put together a show of his favorite contemporary illustrators. The outcome is a gathering of 40 artists pulled together in one spot, PEP. From highly renowned artists to rising stars, the show is not to be missed.

Jennifer Playford’s card line Jenny Wren Paperie is featured in the October 2007 issue of Flare Magazine. The article, which appeared in the Living – City News section, says “(her) quirky nod to wintertime whimsy will charm every last Scrooge on your mailing list”.
