Catalina Estrada was recently commissioned to illustrate for the website of Microsoft’s portable music device Zune. The interactive kaleidoscopic musical site highlights its range of services and takes you through a series of whimsical worlds, each created by a different illustrator. The other illustrators and artists that worked on the campaign are Collectivo, Lifelong Friendship Society, National Forrest and Emil Kozak.

Graham Roumieu appeared in the OpEd section of The New York Times on Thursday, November 8, 2007. The illustration accompanied “Exercise on the Brain,” an article about exercising the brain to slow the cognitive decline associated with aging. The article and illustration have also been featured on The New York Times “Today’s Headlines” email newsletter two days in a row.

Catalina Estrada participated in art exhibition, ROJO®fortwo, featuring exclusive artwork inspired by the worldwide launch of the brand new Smart Fortwo by Smart. The exhibition, which opens on Friday, November 2nd, 2007, has been produced to coincide with the limited edition ROJO®fortwo special issue.
Smart has opened it’s first U.S. showroom, which it is calling the “Smart House,” with a slate of upcoming events that includes an unplugged concert by indie rocker, Piers Faccini.
The location in the oceanside community, where it’s often easier to park a bicycle than a car, is a smart one. Buyers can take a test-drive and check out four Smart Fortwos on display in the renovated studio building on Abbot Kinney Boulevard. “The Smart house will present the world and lifestyle of a typical Smart driver and convey the intrinsic values of this unique city car, showing visitors that bigger is not always better,” said Anders Sundt Jensen, who is responsible for brand management at Smart.
The Daimler brand says that more than 30,000 Americans have already reserved a Smart Fortwo via the company’s website.
The Smart house is open until January 25th, 2007 on Tuesdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
What this means to you: If you’re in the neighborhood, stop in and get a real feel for what it’s like to drive a Smart in one of the most congested spots in the country.

Catalina Estrada has collaborated once again with the Brazilian fashion label Anunciacao on their Spring/Summer 2008 collection. The beautiful summery fashions, which debuted in September (in South America our winter months are their summer months), feature textile patterns made solely of Catalina’s illustrations.
This collection looks like it will get as much press as the last, with clothing featured in Claudia Magazine (Brazil) and coverage on NotCot.

Releasing this month, Graham Roumieu has a ‘love letter’ included in a collection of fiction titled Four Letter Word published by Chatto and Windus (UK) and edited by Joshua Knelman and Rosalind Porter. The book is a unique collection of new fiction written by 35 celebrated contemporary writers including Margaret Atwood, Miriam Toews, David Bezmozgis, Douglas Coupland, Michel Faber, A.L. Kennedy, Audrey Niffenegger, Lionel Shriver, Jan Morris, Jeanette Winterson, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Joseph Boyden, Panos Karnezis, Jonathan Lethem, M.G. Vassanji and Neil Gaiman.
Each writer explores the distinctive form of the love letter to remind us how enticing words can be and perhaps even to resurrect a dying custom. Graham’s letter ‘From Bigfoot to Santa’ is classic Roumieu and an unexpected treat between last year’s Me Write Book and next year’s I Not Dead.
The Canadian edition debuts January 8, 2008 from Knopf Canada (Random House) and the US edition will be published by Simon & Schuster.
