Williams for Cloudy Collection

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Nate Williams was one of six artists asked to contribute to Cloudy Collection’s ‘The Scarlet Lettering’ innovative print series. These super-green limited edition 4×6 inch letterpress prints are run on a 100% wind-powered press and printed on bamboo paper with vegetable-based inks.

This edition is unique in that they have two plates – one is inked red, and the other is a ‘blind deboss,’ where a small amount of transparent white ink is added to the plate. The effect is that there is an indentation in the paper for a subtle texture or message, but generally no color.

All that and only $40 a set including shipping! Plus a portion of sales goes to The Nature Conservancy.

Wiebe for The Lifted Brow

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

Gordon Wiebe contributed a piece to The Lifted Brow’s year-end World Atlas Issue. Artists were invited to choose a country and submit anything from a song, a piece of writing, a comic strip or a piece of artwork based on that country. Canadian Gord chose Canada and his piece, The Last Fish, deals with Canada’s depleting fish populations.

The Lifted Brow is a biannual journal out of Australia that publishes writing, art, and music. Each issue is about 260 pages and includes a CD. Other contributors include Douglas Coupland, Sage Francis and Bodies of Water.
