Catalina Estrada’s popular peacock illustration can now be seen on a unique paper lantern from BlueQ, the designers and manufacturers of decorative objects, eclectic bath products, miniature books and other artful curiosities.
Last spring Emiliano Ponzi illustrated for The New York Times’ Book Review of Francisco Goldman’s book Say Her Name, the touching memoir of a man whose bride dies tragically while surfing. Hauntingly beautiful, the illustration was then sought out for the Grove Atlantic US paperback and UK editions, the French edition (Editions Bourgois) and Dutch edition (Lebowski Publishers).
Nate Williams’ work can be seen in Bike Art, a book dedicated to art about bicycles. Emiliano Ponzi’s animation for Amnesty International, Voices for Freedom, has been awarded Best in Show in Print magazine’s moving image competition, Print in Motion. Congratulations Emiliano!
Emiliano Ponzi and Red Nose Studio have been selected as winners in Print Magazine’s Hand Drawn competition. Emiliano’s Wikileaks image for Italy’s La Repubblica newspaper uses the image of a small boat netting “big fish” as a metaphor for the scandal. Red Nose Studio’s illustrations for Orange Coast Magazine are a series on motorcycles, bars, boxing, and other manly activities in Orange County.

In What ways do color blindness and dyslexia influence your illustration process?
“Being dyslexic has had a huge impact on not just the way I see, but how I think. Because it makes reading difficult, you are constantly missing information so you have to fill in the gaps mentally, which over time makes you a very curious and creative person,” Williams shares. “I saw characters (letters/numbers) as abstract shapes instead of the symbols they represent. Because of this, I developed an interest in typography from an early age.”
