Emiliano Ponzi and Jungyeon Roh are exhibiting in TOWNIES: An Exhibition of Illustration from the New York Times Opinion Blog. Townies is a weekly series about life in New York (and occasionally other cities) written by the novelists, journalists and essayists who live there. The exhibition takes place on Thursday, February 7th at Gallery 7 in the New York Times building.

Emiliano Ponzi and Red Nose Studio were recently featured in Workbook's InFocus, an e-mailing highlighting various topics in illustration and photography. Emiliano's illustration of rising gas prices for RCS MediaGroup and Red Nose Studio's image of a miniature derby racer for Angie's List reveal two different takes on the theme "Car Culture." Emiliano Ponzi recently illustrated a shopping guide to Frankfurt, Germany. His graphic illustration appears on the guide's cover and shows the iconic Birkenstock sandals which originated in Germany. The guide is published by Global Blue, a shopping tourism company based in the UK.
Emiliano Ponzi and Graham Roumieu have been chosen as winners in this year's American Illustration competition. The selected works range from humorous editorial pieces to personal work and product packaging. This year, 439 images were chosen from 8,000 illustrations submitted by over 1,200 illustrators, magazines, agencies, publishers and schools. The distinguished jury included Jen Bekman, 20x20; Steven Charny, Rolling Stone; Mia Song, Men's Health; John Gall, Random House; Aviva Michaelov, The New York Times; Veronica Reo, Young & Rubicam; and Paul Sahre, O.O.P.S. Last spring Emiliano Ponzi illustrated for The New York Times' Book Review of Francisco Goldman's book Say Her Name, the touching memoir of a man whose bride dies tragically while surfing. Hauntingly beautiful, the illustration was then sought out for the Grove Atlantic US paperback and UK editions, the French edition (Editions Bourgois) and Dutch edition (Lebowski Publishers).
Emiliano Ponzi's award-winning image "Elvis" was chosen to appear in the display vitrine at Society of Illustrators New York. "Elvis" will appear in the Society of Illustrators 54 annual as part of a series for EMI Music.
