Bella Pilar will be part of the fourth annual Power In Numbers show at Nucleus Gallery in Alhambra, CA. This year's show had 100 international and local artists create 5 x 7 inch art in the medium and theme of their choosing. Each piece is priced at $100 and a selection of artworks will be auctioned with a portion of the night’s sales benefiting the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles and their efforts in aiding California wildfire victims. The show runs until Monday, December 28th, 2009.

Roumieu for 100 €

Graham Roumieu is part of the 100 € Show at the Hotel de Vil in Stuttgart, Germany. The 100 € Show is an international exhibition consisting of illustrators from Canada, Germany, England, France, Israel, Italy, USA, Korea, Holland, Spain, and Japan. Each illustration sells for 100 €. The show is 'cash and carry' and once a piece is sold the empty space on the wall reveals the artist's full name and county.

Each participating artist has been recognized either by The Society of Publication Design, American Illustration, The Advertising & Design Club of Canada, The Society of Illustrators, the Art Directors Club of New York or the Art Directors Club of Germany. Click here for a preview of the art.

Pilar's Wanderlust

Bella Pilar joins Ali Gallagher, Danielle DeFoe and Rebecca Friedman for Wanderlust. This group show opens on Saturday, December 12th and a portion of all proceeds goes to benefit Inner-City Arts.

Haworth for POCKOSHKO

Hennie Haworth was one of 20 international artists commissioned by Pocko, in collaboration with Magma, to customize a series of wooden Matryoshka dolls for POCKOSHKO. The exhibition opened at London's three Magma stores as part of the London Design Festival and will eventually travel to NYC, Madrid and Milan.

Other artists that participated in the project include: Studio Number One, Jeremyville, Dave McMacken, Mike Perry, McFaul, James Braithwaite, Tabas, Olaf Hajek, Paul Bower, Postics, Ben Newman, Staffan Larsson, Nomoco, James Dawe, Adam Hayes, Fernanda Cohen, Joey Hi-Fi, Kinpro and Jorge Alderete.

POCKOSHKO

Haworth at Kemistry, London

Hennie Haworth was one of 14 artists that took part in No Understanding Between the Brain and the Hands at Kemistry Gallery in London. For the show, Pocko invited five photographers and nine designers to create their own interpretations of Metropolis, the 1927 silent science fiction film created by the famed director Fritz Lang. The artists reinterpreted Lang's urban dystopia, creating new versions of the city as we know it today.

Pilar's Animal Instinct

Bella Pilar is contributing artwork to Animal Instinct at The ARTery Gallery in Costa Mesa, CA.  The show will feature work from over 25 artists and will include illustration, paintings, prints (including etching & letterpress), graffiti-influenced work, sculpture, crochet, photography, plush and more. Eighty percent of all proceeds go to the Humane Society of the United States. Fittingly, all pieces will include at least one animal.

The opening reception takes place on Saturday, November 7th, 2009 and will feature a live painting demonstration by Yuki Miyazaki, prizes from Urban Decay and Humanitaire and a photobooth from Visual Adhesive.

Red Nose for Spectrum

Red Nose Studio will be exhibiting in the Spectrum show at the Museum of American Illustration at the Society of Illustrators in New York City. The exhibition will feature 150 pieces selected from the almost 2000 images that have appeared in the last four editions of Spectrum. Spectrum's last exhibition was in 2005 and it turned out to be one of the most popular events of the year, drawing record breaking crowds. The opening reception takes place on Friday, September 11th but the artwork will be on display from Tuesday, September 1st until Saturday, October 17th, 2009.

Red Nose in Kokeshi Show

Red Nose Studio has a piece in the upcoming Custom Kokeshi 2009 show. The show, which was curated by Christina Conway, showcases kokeshi customized by over 100 internationally respected artists, illustrators and designers and is part of the KOKESHI: From Folk Art to Art Toy exhibition at the Japanese American National Museum. Other artist participating in the show include Amy Sol, Calef Brown, Kukula, Marcos Chin, Pietari Posti, Stella Im Hultberg and Tara McPherson, among many, many others. The show runs from Saturday, July 11th until Sunday, October 4th, 2009.

Roumieu at Drawn & Quarterly

Montreal-based Drawn & Quarterly will be hosting an art show and book launch for Graham Roumieu's latest release, Cat & Gnome, 'a tale so powerful it would make Shakespeare swallow his pen and crap out butterflies (citation needed).' Stop by Librairie Drawn & Quarterly on Wednesday, July 8th for an evening of presentations, stunts, Q & A's, general milling-about and chit-chat about new and old works by Graham. Red Nose Studio Illustrating Illustration

Red Nose Studio was invited by the Kilkenny County Council Arts Office to exhibit his work in the group show Illustrating Illustration in Kilkenny, Ireland. The exhibition features the work of 11 of the most renowned and successful illustrators from around the world and was curated by award-winning illustrator Alè Mercado (Ireland). The show offers the audience a tour of the process of illustration and opens discussion around two principles- that there is no one original in illustration and that illustration cannot exist without text or concept. Other artists in the show include Saturio Alonso, Steven Aylin, Melinda Beck, BrenB, Ina Fiebig, Jordin Isip, Ana Juan, KEKO, Alé Mercado and Paula Sanz Caballero. Illustrating Illustration runs from Friday, June 13th to Friday, July 25th, 2008.

Red Nose Studio Shows & Signs

Chris Sickels of Red Nose Studio has a show opening tonight (Fri, April 11th, 2008) in historic downtown Greenfield, IN, his hometown. The event is part of the inaugural Second Friday event which links little shops, cafes, galleries and even a studio arts center with with people in the community. Chris will also be signing copies of The Look Book at the new Crazy Lake Art House at:

2 W Main, Greenfield from 7:30-8pm, April 11th.

The exhibit will run from April 11-July 31st 2008.

Red Nose Studio for Society of Illustrators Charity Auction

Red Nose Studio created a sculpture titled Flicker for the upcoming MicroVisions sci-fi scholarship auction at the Society of Illustrators. The auction, which takes place in June, serves to raise money for the Society of Illustrators Student Scholarship fund. Ten 5 x 7" mini works by Red Nose Studio, Eric Fortune and John Harris among others will be up for auction next month. Red Nose Studio Wins Gold Medal

Red Nose Studio has won his second consecutive Gold Medal (The Carol Anthony Award) from the Society of Illustrators Third Biennial Dimensional Salon. The award was won for a series of advertorial illustrations created for the New York Times DVD reviews published every two months. Additionally he was recognized for two other entries in the same competition; Eating Disorders for AARP Magzine and a series called Sleepybones & Lazyhead for a gallery exhibition. The art will be published in the upcoming annual and exhibited in the Third Biennial Dimensional Salon at the Museum of American Illustration at the Society of Illustrators. The salon runs from Wednesday, December 6, 2006 to Friday, December 29, 2006 with an opening reception on Thursday, December 7, 2006.

FIGURATIVELY SPEAKING: A Collection of Artists' Dolls

Red Nose Studio is currently showing a number of sculptures in the Figuratively Speaking show which opened at the ArtWorks Gallery in Cincinnati, OH earlier this month. The exhibition is comprised entirely of doll-sized figurative work with a broad range of styles and conceptual approaches. The works acknowledge stereotypes while pushing past them to delve into abstract concepts of stereotypical form and meaning.
Figuratively Speaking will overlap a few other choice events at ArtWorks. Until the end of the year, ArtWorks is displaying the SECRET ArtWorks Postcards. Starting December 9th, the ArtWorks Gallery will hold its annual holiday sale, Stocking Stuff, as well as a reception for Figuratively Speaking. This one-day-only-sale and reception will be from noon until 5:00 pm.

In addition to Red Nose Studio's work, the exhibition includes work by: Emily Caito, Jen Edwards, Michael Everett, Nina Gaby, Cody Goodin, Rhonda Gushee, Jenny Harada, Pam Kravetz, Ruth Marks, Elizabeth Marten, Gloria McConnaghy, Greg Penner, Amy Rich, Micha Robertson, Mark Shafer, Katie Swartz, Jenny Ustick, Cathy Wise, and ArtWorks Summer Apprentices.

The show runs through December 22, 2006 with a special reception Saturday, December 9th from 12 - 5 pm.
