Inspired by motherhood, daily life, and vintage shops and markets in Amsterdam, Manon de Jong’s tender, thoughtful illustration combines traditional and digital media with collage elements. She incorporates soft yet upbeat color with hand drawn patterns, working intuitively until the combination feels just right. Starting with a pencil sketch, Manon adds colored pencil, marker, ink, and collage. The artwork is then edited and polished in Photoshop. Her advertising and editorial clients include Parents Magazine, Vogue Bambini (IT), Flow (DE, NL), Global Campaign to End Child Detention, and P&O Ferries (UK); publishing and licensing clients include Guanda (IT), Kireei (ES), and Djeco (FR).

Manon studied philosophy and fashion design before turning to illustration, graduating with honors from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht, Netherlands in 2013. She currently lives in Amsterdam with her boyfriend and their two young sons, Sam and Lucas. She spends any free time she can find searching for vintage clothing, beautiful fabrics, and old photographs and magazines.

Her work has been featured in Frankie Magazine (AU), Picame (IT), Catorze (ES), Tabi Labo (JP), and twice on Artistic Moods, here and here.
